I Never Noticed This and I’ve Been a Christian for Almost 50 Years

I have been a Christian for a while now, almost 50 years.  I have read the Bible many, many times.  In all these years, I never noticed this essential fact.

Matthew 28: 1-2: “Now after the Sabbath as the first day of the week began to dawn Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb and behold there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it.” Did you notice anything new there?  I imagined that the stone was rolled away at the resurrection all these many years.  I envisioned it opening so that Jesus could exit the tomb.  It makes sense, right?  Jesus resurrected through the cave walls or the vast boulder-like stone that sealed the tomb!  So you might ask, “What does that matter?” Stay with me.

Next, let’s look at John 20: 19, “Then the same day at evening being the first day of the week when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’” I dug a little further into this verse not having a complete understanding of the exact meaning of the word, “shut.” I read one commentary that said Jesus quietly opened the door, not wanting to make a noise.  That didn’t make sense to me.  Then I saw in the World English Bible that said, “the doors were locked for fear of the Jews.” That resonated with my spirit.

I inquired of the Lord about the commentary I read, and His response was, “Some are intoxicated by their unbelief!” I laughed out loud, knowing this was true, and at the same time, sad.

We’ve been hearing messages about new realms that will be available as our hearts are open.  Jesus promised greater works would we do because He was going to the Father.  I believe that natural limitations are being lifted for us to accomplish God’s will in the coming days.  We need to prepare ourselves.
