“Aha” Moments with the Bible
Last week, I shared some of my recent “aha” moments with the Bible. The Scripture does say His mercies are new every morning, and He is faithful. Remember to ask the Holy Spirit about anything you read in the Bible that doesn’t make sense to you. He is your Teacher, Helper, and Guide. I say it this way, “Feel free to inquire about the Author. We have the best-selling author sitting right next to us!”
There’s another scripture that I must mention. It is I Corinthians 2: 9-10. “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
Over the years, I have heard preachers quote I Corinthians 2:9 and leave off verse 10. I call that blasphemy!
These two verses belong together as attached as epoxy. Epoxy mixes two chemicals, the polyepoxide, and the hardening agent. That means that the mixture changes the chemical structure. In the case of I Corinthians 2: 9-10, the meaning changes 180 degrees when read together. Verse 9, read alone, is hopeless and misleading, reflecting our life without God.
I won’t apologize. God wired me this way.
My husband discovered that I have detectives in my ancestry! Perhaps this is why I dig down on many scriptures like this. I am a stickler for God’s Word and its manifold meanings, and it makes all the difference in life.
